The Lego franchise has been growing strong ever since its debut several years back. Lego Batman 2 builds upon the foundation of its previous titles (Lego Batman) with more bad guys and, get this, more good guys! You can now play as Superman and a handful of other DC creations throughout the course of the game. This feels like the most ambitious title to date…
GRAPHICS
While the game is not ugly, it’s not the best in show either. Animations are smooth and fluid, with some elements borrowed from ‘Arkham City’ like the ‘Slow Motion Final Punch‘ adding a nice touch to the gameplay. More characters are playable this time around, namely Superman and a few others making for a more in depth gaming experience than before. Backgrounds are beautiful works of Lego art and the batcave offers a fine sanctuary for the caped crusader.
GAMEPLAY
Fighting is a simple as mashing the square button, getting random results on finishing moves. Batman has the capability to hover/fly from platform to platform making travel fun instead of a chore. You get to drive the batmobile in certain levels, although a lot of work would be needed to make that part fun. The Caped crusader provides an overall fun experience that Lego and Batman fans alike will appreciate. Oh, and for the first time, the characters actually talk! That’s right, they talk instead of shrugs and mumbles. Badass!
PRESENTATION
The game is presented in true Gotham fashion, slightly gritty with estranged villains and cool gadgets galore.
